You might like to know that many tasks on the Railway are undertaken by volunteers who have a variety of skills and backgrounds. Prior knowledge of railways is not essential as we provide suitable training to fit the task. Many of our operating staff have been trained in house. The Railway is more than just running trains and we welcome help in all departments.
Operating; Booking Clerks, Signalmen, Ticket Inspectors, Guards, Station Staff and Footplate Crews.
Outside departments; Permanent Way Dept, Signal & Telegraph Dept
If you've practical skills then you may be interested in:
Engineering, Carriage Restoration or Premises Maintenance. A great variety of skills can be put to use; electrician, carpentry, painting, upholstery and construction.
