Transport  Heritage Weekend

The annual Transport Heritage event was held over the weekend of Saturday/Sunday 11th & 12th September. A feature of this years event was the provision in the timetable of several 'set pieces' for enthusiasts to savour. The first train of the day was the 09.05 am from Buckfastleigh and ran particularly to enable the SDR's two recently repainted carriages in Crimson and Cream to run together coupled with black liveried 2-6-2T No 5526. The ensemble is pictured at Caddaford with the added delight of the General Manager's Austin 10 Colwyn Cabriolet parked on the grass verge. Just needs a couple of people leaning on the fence or having a picnic to recreate a timeless Don Breckon scene!

Other delights over the weekend were an adequate sprinkling of Auto Trains, a freight with all bauxite wagons and 'Teddy Bear' D9525, various 'tail' traffic such as United Dairies milk tans, a parcels train with two nicely restored maroon livery CCT's
