8th June Statement from Devon Diesel Society Chairman.

Diesel Gala Update – Thursday 8th June 19.00hrs
Following the removal of 20 001 and 31 108 from the gala, a new revised timetable has been drafted for both Saturday and Sunday. The train times are much the same as previous, however there is one freight train missing on Saturday and a couple of small changes to the various ecs and light engine moves on the Sunday evening.

In making the changes every effort has been made to make the best of what we still have. The pairing of the two large logo 37’s, the first passenger run of which was due to take place late on Saturday has now been moved forward into “daylight”. The Saturday evening beerex runs will now mainly comprise Class 37 haulage with the final trains being worked in top and tail mode by 37 314 and 37 321.

On the Sunday, to make up for the loss of 20 001, and to add further enjoyment for followers of the class, the first and final passenger runs are now booked for 3 x Class 20.

It was hoped to secure a Fragonset Merlin Class 31 for the gala, however this is now looking unlikely, however if one does become available it will be added into the gala on the Sunday. Any such appearance on Saturday is thought unlikely and would involve major re-workings of the traincrew diagrams.

The movement of 20 227 and 37 314 from the MRB to Totnes was expected to start today however Cotswold Rail have advised this will now take place
tomorrow with an expected departure from the MRB at around 10.30 and arrival at Totnes at around 18.00 or just after.

Once again our apologies for the late changes.
